I propose a dream experiment!

( After reading what I wrote, I realize it should be discussed further before any "experiment" begins and I mention that in the end. But this is my idea...)

I want to test telepathy in a lucid dream. My hypothesis is that it won't work, but this will be fun. So I need some volunteers. Think of a number between 1 and 10, and write it down. It's important that you write it down, so it isn't just a thought, and can be verified later. (and it could be a whole week before I lucid dream again....) I will do the same, and write down a number. And you can do the same lucid dream experiment as I suggest below: While in a lucid dream, conjure someone that knows the answers and ask them what the others wrote down. You may only remember 3 people or so, and may have to wake up right away to write it down. If you are in an awesome lucid dream, forget about it and enjoy yourself. This is just a proposition. However, you can always write down a number and not try the experiment. Again, I predict it won't work, but it will be an interesting experiment. Who else does this? Oh yea, lucid dreamers! So if you are on board, just say, " I have a number."(and keep it simple between 1-10, and write it down somewhere) I'll see if I (or you, if you try this) can learn it from a lucid dream. It will be an interesting story to share with each other whether we get it right or not. And we should wait and reveal our answers on a specific date, so that one person who becomes lucid and does this, doesn't ruin it for the others. We all reveal (if we got answers or not) on the same day. So actually, lets discuss this a bit first before we start. I want to see who is interested. We will have to agree with a few rules (like how long before the experiment is over, or if you want numbers between 1-100). **Or maybe you have other ideas for lucid dream experiments. **

That sounds actually pretty cool! I've never had a Lucid Dream before, though. :( I have been trying for.....two days. Lol, I'm trying again tonight! :D I hope it will work! But anywho this experiment sounds fun! But I agree, you can only dream up things you can imagine, or know, right? Things in your sub conscience? So if you tried to guess other people's numbers, would it work? It's worth a shot, though!

**You say the dream can only be made up from what you know, imagine and what comes from the subconscious. **

I AGREE.

You can conjure people in dreams, but they will never know more than you know. OR DO THEY!!?

I will try, so basicly i just write a number, then in my next LD i say "what is hagarts number" and see if it works?

Yea it is as simple as that.

So right now I have a number between 1-10. But you gotta commit to that number. This is not science, but just for fun. If I lucid dream tonight, I'll see if I can learn your number. Make sure you have one though.

I had a dream and became lucid last night.

Then I remembered this experiment and tired it.

I called out for someone, I basically said, 'Is there anyone who knows james's number. Nobody appeared. I called out for Hagart, (if you know my intro, that will make sense). But still nothing. I became lucid within a house I use to live in so that was the construct of the dream. The enviroment so to speak and it is hard to change that... just go with the flow. It was all dimly lit and I wandered from room to room so see if I can feel a 'presense'. Finally, I was in a room that had a fireplace and I saw a reflection in the glass. It was a woman, but I could only see her shoulders up, and it was like she was a news anchor woman. She was wearing blue, had her hair done up, and was kind of attractive, but news anchor type. I said hello, to see if it speaks and she did. Then I asked, "Do you know James's number?"

Here's what she said: "No, If I did I would be lying." I know that verbatim, but after that she said, I can not know what others are thinking. In more or less words, but the first part in quotations I know word for word the second part I have to paraphrase.

I woke up right away to right it down and I did, but then soon realized it was a false awakening. I get those alot after a lucid dream. Then I woke up for real and wrote it down again.

Maybe 'she' just told me what I expected to hear. After all it is really just a conversation with yourself with some hallucinations thrown in.......

I think you should try to find someone in a lucid dream that is very important (eg a god). Have no expectations at all. I have a number could I join? :D

Good luck!

yea we can try again, and MY NUMBER I HAVE still stands. It is between 1 and 10.

Good luck trying to solve it!

I have never conjured GOD before. That would be interesting... I bet it would be the same old weird thing that appears, which I am convinced is just my subconscious.....

I think it was you who told me, after I introduced myself, to "eat everything until you taste color itself!' Or something like that. I will try that, but I still think if I eat a shoe it will taste like a shoe. But that is another experiment I want to try. You inspired that test.

I'll see what things taste like next time.

I don't believe in telepathy; except for with myself when not in one location/body.

I agree.... but except for after the 'except' part. It's hard to explain in words. I know that. Words can't describe it. And I am by no means an expert.

But it can be some fun, just sharing interesting experiences when we try it. And it takes lucidity from the mundane to something else because you have a task. It's no longer recreational.

Your right. I only narrowed the odds to 1 in 98 now!

The game is still on!

I just awoke from my LD! :) :)

I got 2 numbers from two different dream characters just to make sure. The first number my memory is somewhat vague on, but I'm almost sure I remembered correctly.. However the 2nd number my memory is positive.

After reading your post again, along with Peter's post from his topic "Hit me with a big stick and wake me up" ( http://www.world-of-lucid-dreaming.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1418 ) I decided to take a nap. I had the mindset going to sleep of feeling certain that I would LD because it's been a few weeks and I was just fed up with not having one. I'm having one right now dang it! Well, I had one :). I truly believed I would have an LD, so I'm excited using that technique worked.

Here is my LD.

I was in a big field. One I had visited in RL about 6 years ago. I started to jump 100 feet in the air and turned sideways to land 50 feet to the right. (Imagine a rainbow. That's the path my body took. A curved path from ground-sky-ground). My thought process was this: "The next time I LD I want to try something like this because it's so fun! Wait, how am I doing this now? I'm dreaming!" I immediately continued to do this because it was fun lol. I then decided to fly high into space because I was feeling confident enough. (Space exploration has always been a failure in my LDs.) I was so confident in myself this LD that I flew higher than I ever have. I passed the cloud level and space was on the horizon, but then I remembered I need to get HAGART's #! As my dream starting fading to black to stimulate space (another space problem I have. Space is always pitch black for me and it ruins the LD), I decided to instead free fall back to earth. The clarity of my fall back to earth was horrible, but when I landed I demanded back the clarity.

I landed in a clay/cartoon city, just like the Gumby! People and environment were clay.

Image

My parents were outside a house talking. They ignored my question, so I decided to go knock on random houses. The first house I knocked on I was let inside a moment later. I asked the question and he answered with no debating it: 74

I went back outside to find one more answer. I flew around and found a cartoon/clay couple having sex in an upstairs bedroom (I could see them through their open window). I chuckled as I flew inside the room. They were not started at all, but the man stopped and turned to me as I asked him "What is HAGART's number? He said without hesitation: 14

So there you have them! How did I do?

Wrong and wrong.

But interesting story. I never tried going into space before. And I sometimes enter a cartoon world.

Well dang. Off to something new then. Your number was 67 btw.

Arcadian wrote: Your number was 67 btw

mine or YOURS? Do you mean it was my number to guess for you?

Anyway, I just read this now and had a Lucid Dream last night and asked again.

Sometimes, when I finish a lucid dream I stay perfectly still and relax and can enter a knew one. This time it didn't work and I woke up in bed. I looked around and saw a christmas tree in the room. Then I realized I must be dreaming and all I have to do is get up and walk around. Easier said than done. Whenever I get this, I find it very disorientating and my 'body' seem to just want to collapse to the ground. But I yelled loudly for the dream to stabalize and I turned round a corner and it finally did stablalize and I could walk and things were 'real'. I was in my house, and went upstairs and again my grandmother was there. I asked her about the number and without hesitation she said: 15.

Then I was wondering if it was her presence that was more important. She is turning ninety in a month and we are throwing a big birthday party, so then I was wondering if the number was: 90.

Did the experiment end? Hopefully not because I want to join. :D Sooo, if this is still going, I have a number.

Alright. Its on again. I have a number too. Tell me your lucid dream and how you arrive at my number and I will do the same for you. I will take note of your name so I can ask about you to others in my dream. I doubt this will ever work but it is fun! It's between 1-100. No zero and no decimals!

I was lucid last night. I was just about to enter a car when it hit me and I realized I was dreaming. I got in anyway and drove really fast trying to crash into other cars. It was fun, then I thought, "what else should I do?", and I remembered the number experiment.

I saw 3 animals outside and I got out and asked them. At first they spoke giberish, but finally the goat said a number and I asked again to clarify and it gave me a difinitive number. I asked a dog and it gave me another number. When I asked the horse it replied, "Rabbit." I thought, "OOOKKKK?! That was weird", and I carried on with the dream and did something else.

The goat was first and it said: 11 The dog was second and it said: 6

hey. this sounds really fun. not only fun but it would help my dream control with comunicating with dream charecters. ive only had one lucid dream and that was last night. my first! may i please join? i know this has kinda ended but it sounds fascinating!

HAGART if it's still on,and I will have my first lucid dream tonight (and stabilize it) I will tell you a number too!

I've wondered if that was possible for the longest time x), and if it is possible, I'd most certainly have fun messing around with unsuspecting people :P, I'd volunteer, but I have yet to have a lucid dream.

ive got a number written down if yall want to guess mine too.

Alright, the test continues.

And it's fun to have a task when you lucid dream.

So the number has to be between 1-100, no decimals, only whole numbers. I need to write your names down so I don't forget. And even if you don't lucid dream often you can still have a number. I got one that "Nightless" was supposed to guess but he/she still didn't reply, so I'll keep the same number.

So the experiment continues, and even if it doesn't work or prove anything, it is fun to share our lucid dreams and how we arrive at the answer, sharing who or what did we talk to?!

so do you need to write down my real name or username? i cant wait to hear the results! by the way i may not lucid dream for a while because ive only had one. i cant wait though!

No just usernames so I have a reference. For example MermaidMelodies I just wrote down as "the mermaid person that looks like a grotesque version of the ghosts from Super Mario Brothers ghost ship level"! Just a personal way to remember you guys..... (But truly that's what the avatar picture looks like!)

i had a lucid dream two nights ago but it did not cross my mind to ask what your number was. how can i make sure to do this in a dream?

I had several lucid dreams in the past few weeks, but I forgot to ask about the numbers too. I was having too much fun though. When I finally remembered it was at the end and I woke up before I got an answer. But I'll try again. I find it hard to get 3 numbers at once, but I will see what happens when I lucid dream again.

we have to get three numbers at once? oh. i thought that it was only one.

My third lucid dream is when it happened. i proposed this same dream expirement with my friends. they dont lucid dream and dont really have the attention span to try, so it was my job to find out their numbers. the other night, i became lucid in my dream. i ran through my mind a list of what i wanted to do when lucid. the first one that crossed my mind was asking what my friends number was. At this point i was at Metilda's house. (like the movie you know?) I was going to ask her but instead i went up to her little sister on the porch. i thought she was very cute. she smiled at me and i smiled back and said hello. she said hi back. i said, "can you help me with this game i am playing with my friend? maybe even cheat? cheating isnt good but we'll do it here. can you tell me what (my friends name's) number is? she looked up and tapped her finger on her chin for a second and said, "hmmm" then she looked back at me and very confidently she said, "8".

I went up to my friend yesterday and told her this. Im like, "is this you number? i mean probraby not but it will be fun to see what your number was." she was like. "that was my number! eight! i was thinking of writing down 7, but i decided on 8!" i aboloutly freaked out. this was so cool.

i know it was probraby just a coincidence but it was still really cool! just wanted to share that with y'all!

thanks!

That does sound cool. Was it a number between 1-100 or 1-10? Was she just saying it was the right number to mess with you?

However, earlier in this topic, I said there would probably be a better chance if you knew the person in real life. Our subconscious can probably pick up on subtle micro-expressions on people's faces or some how know what number they would choose based on personality or past memories that we have of them. Our subconscious is pretty good at solving things based on a gut feeling because it takes into account a wide range of variables that our conscious minds may not even be aware of.

I haven't had any serious lucid dreams lately. I'm pretty sure it's because I changed my sleep pattern. I am sleeping in a new bed and am staying up later than usual and not getting good solid REM sleep in the mornings. I'm starting to get back into a regular routine again though and when I have a good lucid dream again I want to ask about your number and the others. I still have mine written down if you want to ask about mine.

The number was between 1-100. well i asked her if she was lying, she said no. i mean, alot of the time, people do mess with my cause i am gullible. but this time i could feel that she wasnt lying. ill ask again though just to make sure.

Oh yeah, i remember you talking about that. thats really cool how powerful our subconscious really is. we dont even know the limits to it yet!

i hope you have a lucid dream soon! i did have one last night but it didnt occur to me to ask your number. sorry. ill try to do it next time. it still is on my list of things to do while lucid dream!

Lucid Dreamer: I finally had a lucid dream and the first thing I wanted to do was ask about your number. I don't even remember how I became lucid or how it ended; It happened quite early in my night's sleep and I didn't write it down and forget most of it, but I do remember asking about what your number is. I didn't conjure any all knowing guru or oracle or anything. I just asked whoever was around. Nobody answered except one person and they replied, "I don't know!"

So there you have it. Truer words have never been said.

haha. that is hilarious! by the way, i asked her again and she said she was not messing with me. i believe her because she is not the kind of person to lye to me and let me walk away believing. she would tell me later. anyways, ive had alot of lucid dreams lately and my most reoccurring goal has been to make my best friend from camp appear. it hasn't crossed my mind yet to ask your number, but i am trying!

Can I join in? This seems very interesting, and perhaps I could be of some use?

I think the number should be between 1 and 20, or the experiment should be repeated multiple times to ensure it wasn't random chance.

If we do figure out the numbers, I would place my money on deduction and not telepathy, but, you never know...

Maybe my subconscious is absorbing information right now by looking at your posts and seeing different patterns in the numbers that you use? Uh.... yeah. I'll go write down my number now.

KungFuPanther wrote: Maybe my subconscious is absorbing information right now by looking at your posts and seeing different patterns in the numbers that you use? Uh.... yeah. I'll go write down my number now.

That is possible and if anybody guesses a number right I believe it is either chance or the subconscious using ALL the mind's memories and abilities. We apparently pick up on everything and have a photographic memory and can see patterns in behaviour, but only subconsciously. (some people have photographic memory and even remember every day of their lives! But they are rare) I believe all our subconscious minds can do the same, but we just don't have access to it, but perhaps in a lucid dream if you speak with a character who is a representation of your subconscious, you can.

I also wrote earlier that it would make more sense to ask a question that is based on emotion with a person you know in real life because a random number with a stranger doesn't seem to work well. When I ask in my Lucid Dream the answer is literally "I don't know", sometimes.

**BUT! If I am lucid and remember I will ask, "What is KungFuPanther's number?", just to see what happens. It might be a funny story, and I like a lucid dream challenge. **

( I just realized this post is 2 days away from being a whole year old! I should bake a cake for it! )

Maybe our subconscious mind would make a better guess if we summoned and asked each other? For instance, when I have a LD, I will try to summon you and ask you what your number is. Well, I don't think it would be the best idea to bring me into your dream, I might actually come as the Black Panther! Let's just say that his hunting instincts sometimes get the best of him..... :D

Well. Got a number. Got a plan. Gonna have a lucid dream.
