I tried and tried to paint a certain image from a lucid dream - but I failed again and again :P In my frustration I took to scouring deviant art. There I stumbled upon this photograph which embodies my dream almost perfectly.

I guess I am technically breaking your rules, but I figured "It's better to ask forgiveness than permission." Anyway here's the link for it. http://klapouch.deviantart.com/art/Valderice-317257689?q=boost%3Apopular%20meta%3Aall%20max_age%3A24h&qo=19

"Underwater Ghost Cat" by Nicole Reyes Alves

I wasn't lucid but I had a dream that I was painting this Exactly a month before my oldest cat passed away this year. Funny.. I just realized my cat was pretty fond of water.

Since I was a kid I've had dreams of flying. This wonderful dream of floating up and hovering before I began to fly was thrilling. In these dreams I always had friends or family with me and I was trying to teach them how to float up and fly with me. Recently, my dreams have become more vivid and this has inspired me to recreate my dreams as a photograph. I call this "Flying". www.vincentdileo.com

Kemeny62, I love "Dream Signs". It's very pre-lucid dreamy... it seems worldly and utilitarian at first glance, but, once you take a closer look - as you do or can do in the waking and lucid states - you start to become aware of those anomalies and the surreal nature behind what you experience. So far, that is my favourite piece. I can see it displayed on the main page.

Summerlander. Thank you for your comments. "Dream Signs" was created for exactly the purpose you indicated. The main figure in the painting is on the verge of realizing that he must be dreaming. He is surrounded by "clues" that there is something amiss with his "reality". Some of the imagery in the painting is from my own experience with lucid dreaming. Thanks again for your interest!

Octopus of Dreams

I was sleeping with my ear plugs in and I went through some dream sequences involving day to day stuff that has happened around here recently and everything got kind of mixed up and whirling around people blended into others and walls and other scenes erupted and then blended.

As it all whirled and churned together I rose above it and all the images churning and whirling around became like a very animated, corrugated ball of scenes and people and memories. The ball had many arms that would extended out and a glimpse of a scene would become obvious then it would withdraw back into the ball and other arms would extend out and this continued repetitively some time many arms would extend sometimes only one some times the image of a scene would become visible on the surface of the ball amongst the corrugations and then get churned back into ball.

It was terrifying and fascinating at the same time. I use 'ball' for want of a better term. For the most part it was roundish but the images kind of spiralled out from the centre or the core. In a fashion it resembled a flower like a rose with the petals being very animated and spinning around the centre of the bud extending out and then with drawing within. It had a life of its own. I got the feeling it was both feeding on the images and generating them at the same time.

When I awoke the first thought that popped into my mind was that it was animal like and living inside of me. A psychedelic animal or engine and in a strange sense self perpetuating.

The Emperor.

I was meditating on archetypes and fell asleep, this art is from the lucid dream I had. I am observing an alien anthropologist studying and reporting on exceptional subjects of human behaviour. In this case the alien describes The Emperor as a pivotal archetype of human behaviour and influence. He achieves his status by shrouding himself in an invented cult of mystery which is injected into the culture to integrate his position in popular mythology. The Emperor sometimes uses savage methods to prosecute resistance and generously rewards cooperation. After coercing key individuals he becomes an unchallengeable authority and is seen to have absolute power. He is not without his critics, but to some he is god-like and is worshiped, feared, and also loved. The Emperor is perceived as a caring and generous ruler who is also capable of delivering horrific episodes of punishment and cruelty. This assessment is part of an exceptional reporting series by the alien anthropologist on the human condition and includes other subject types.

The Back of Moggs Creek

It was with a whisper and a shiver the day I woke up The wind marked the moment in my mind without the wheel or the sword I approached the dream on foot Thinking of magic, kind

On a hill with an empty stare I pondered the blue sea from Moggs to Lorne A distant passion in my eye The earth woman she speaks to me and I know the reason why

The first clue is to feel out of place Or that you have arrived Just wake up and accept it’s an illusion And your soul will survive

But service and works Or just waiting around I considered these a while Be true to yourself first Is your only obligation in any lifetime

Wake up, a simple start, a surprise But don’t deny physical pleasures On earth grounded Gods can die We are all empty handed, alone on our hills So accept your dawning, and let the clouds drift by and by

how d'you guys make these images? d'you draw them and scan them or use photoshop or what

Altered States, I can only speak for my art. The some of my art are done with pastels on paper and then scanned in, and then I manipulate the colour, hue, saturation etc using Photoshop or other similar image manipulation programs like Paint Shop Pro. Sometimes I just use the simple photo editing suite that comes with the computer like Windows Live Photo Gallery, after scanning them in I just play around with the brightness, contrast, and colour until I get the effect I like, or I just click the auto adjust and/or noise reduction it does the trick. 'Madonna of Aireys' is a collage of photos that has been manipulated and retouched using PaintShop Pro. 'Subject 4: The Emperor' is also a collage of photos manipulated, enhanced and embellished using mainly PhotoShop. What I found with these programs is that each do some things better than others and each have tools that the other ones do not have. So to answer your question directly I have 'Photshoped' (a new verb) my art but I have probably used three or four photo/image manipulation programs. I have done other photo art using a very simple 'Paint' style program that I found on an old Windows 98 computer where I was staying at the time, and it was very effective producing a Warhol emulation portrait of my then girlfriend. Sometimes the simplest is just as good or better than the more expensive and 'complex' programs. Having said that there are some amazing pieces of art here in this forum that are simply done by hand no retouching, no manipulation and they are awesome! Jason (Cosmos)

One thing i notice about my dreams in my childhood is: they're colorful. the hue, saturation, exposure; the color was different. no matter if the dream supposed to be scary-themed (this one is), most of them were still much more colorful than the dreams i had after elementary school.

This was a recurring dream (3 days), that's why i still remember it clearly: Me and my family were in a cemetery (still, colorful with butterflies!), and i heard that 2 local ghosts are causing panic. i panicked too. the cemetery was on a cliff, and i jumped/fell to the lake under. I opened my eyes under water and it was clear, everything glows down there (just like if you open your eyes in a pool), there were some rocks and four orange fishes. still underwater, i saw this girl (only lower half of her body is visible) with her red swimming suit, walking while holding her beach ball. Out the water, i looked up and my mom and sister were calling me. i looked around and the girl's not there. there was no way out so i just dunked again and she's still there, walking around. i did this a couple of times eventhough i kinda got scared, because i could only see her lower half underwater. i forgot how the dream ends.

somehow my 2012 artwork folder got deleted and i hadn't back them up… :( so now i don't have the HD one of my previous dream arts…

well now i want to share 1 more :) this was the most difficult to make from all my digital dream arts (well duh i've only made 3 so far ), because rather than make it from zero, this time i have a base picture (my school) that i have to use and edit the background (original picture: http://images.plurk.com/2ZmzSbi7G0q4gjSsuVfp9R.jpg)

dj 23 10 09.jpg *"School Festival(?)" from dream journal 23/10/2009* dj 23 10 09.jpg (147.71 KiB) Viewed 21 times

i had this dream when i was in high school. i chose to make this one because in my dream it was reaaally beautiful.

this picture is the hall in front of my elementary school (left), and on the right side should be a track field, which in this picture turned into a vast, dark scenery with a big lake, mountains, and stars behind (kinda felt empty & silent). (see the original picture)

story from my dream journal: started at afternoon, this place was still ordinary. it felt like there was some kind of event there. me and my fam went to some other place by a 'hearse'. when we went back from that other place to school, it's already evening and we were behind that white gate (behind those girls, which in reality is the way to my high school) and my sis asked me "which way do you want to go through? in front of hospital (actually my high school) or somewhere else (the hall in this picture)?" i took her hand. "so, which one?" "somewhere else!!" "ahahah so you're afraid to go through the hospital at this hour?" "no! because i've dreamt about hospitals…(and none of them are good)". so i went back to the first place, but, it was night and the place turned pretty (this picture). it was very bright, a lot of people were there, the track field became a lake with big rocks besides it, all trees turned into cherry blossom trees, and there are yellow flowers that emit lights on the pillars… the place beyond the white gate to 'hospital' is still really dark, though. me and my friends tried taking pictures, enjoying the pretty place. if you stand from this picture's point of view, behind you is the way to middle school, and there was a white gate too. i strolled in front of my middle school even though the only bright place is my elementary school, and one of my friend told me "hey we should be back to our dorm room, it's this late, the gates will be closed soon" (there's no dorm, actually) ah yes and at that moment, the white gates are being closed. i woke up.

[note: even though those 4 girls are supposed to be me and my 3 classmates, please don't mind what the people in this picture are doing, since i just put pictures of random people to make it looks like it was merry in that place.]

ah sorry if i'm too chatty somehow… maybe at that time i thought to be elementary school students must be fun, but it's not like i don't have many bitter memories from elementary school…? and i do had a happy time in middle school and high school! perhaps this dream talks about responsibility as i grow up……

My name is Fahad Hannan, I made this when I had a dream of a waterfall at night, probably because I went to a waterfall site near Toronto, Anyway I really liked the scenery so i Made it as best as I could. At the time I was not that good at art only just beginning.

Description: During the dream I was In a forest wondering around, Lost, As you can see the trees in the Back. Eventually when I found a water source I followed it But it was quite dark and All i had for light was the Moon. Once I reached the water source I realized it was a Waterfall which resembled the one I visited that day with family. And So I Drew this in a frontal position to the best of my abilities of how it looked

This is really incredible. So intense, so expressive, and also eerie. It's a little freaky, like an early evening HI session, but at the same time you find yourself attracted to it somehow and keep wanting to go back for another look. Very very excellent! I still have a lot more that I can get out of this. Thanks for sharing it!

thirsty oneironaut

i'm in space surrounded by seemingly endless void and millions of distant stars but still safely protected by my suit. at first i feel lost but then i notice a rope, connecting me to a tree which is also floating around silently. it reminds me of my home, earth, and somehow makes me confident that i'm not lost. i can't be lost, the whole universe is my home! i can't be lost because.. this is a dream! the realisation fills me with joy and peace, but also awe. amazing, how real everything feels! i try to rub my hands together but the suit makes it very hard to achieve stabilization. so i just look at my hands, trying to make out all those little details of the suit. it works, i feel the dream becoming clearer.

for some time i just keep gazing the beauty of my dreamscape, repeatedly reminding myself that i'm in a dream. after a while i decide to leave this place but all of a sudden i have no idea how to do that! i try spinning around quickly but the nothingness of space makes it impossible. as i'm thinking about a better method, a straw passes right in front of my face. a straw!? what is it doing out here? oh yeah, right. this is a dream. i forgot for a second. i grab the straw and without much thinking i stick it right into the glass of my helmet. it penetrates it like it's some sort of rubber-bubble. as i'm trying to suck up the whole universe water is dripping out, into my mouth. what the!? i don't get it. if there really IS nothing but vacuum out there, it should act differently! and realizing that, i feel myself being pulled out into space through the straw. it all happens within a second; i feel how my nose is being stretched (without any pain) and how the rest of my body follows it into space. the moment my awareness expands to infinity, i wake up.

so… here's some lineart i did but i'm not sure if i'm gonna color it. i still hope you like it that way. oh and feel free to download and color it! if you want to use it in any way, please give credit and inform me about it!

neat dreams, peace out!

ps, instead of "lostandfun.com" i now changed to "lost-and-fun.tumblr.com"

It could be if you like. Although the characters were seen during hypnagogia and lasted briefly. You know those images that can potentially turn into full-fledged lucid dreams or mind worlds you can enter on the cusp of mind awake body asleep? They're the ones. The characters are probably as bizzare to me as they are to you. I'm glad you like the pic btw. :-)

i didn't record this dream in dream journal!! :(

i joined coursera.org , somekind of online classes and i enrolled on the traditional art class. this week assignment was to make a fantasy art, so i made it from my dream. here's (part of) my Artist Statement:

Story and symbols explaination: i believe there's nothing more symbolic and fantastical than one's dream, that's why i use one of my dream for this assignment. The red buildings was a big mall and i was inside them doing my activities. i went to the veranda, and the gravity suddenly rotated 90 degrees like in the picture, and i saw two office buildings beneath me. i didn't want to let go from that place but the gravity forced me to and somehow i felt that i need to go there. i let go and float downward while looking at the mall and noticed the japanese ornaments and the huge clock, landed on the small-scale offices. eventhough there were only buildings and a sky, the boat somehow was there, floating like it was on the water.

i had this dream when i was in the 1st-2nd year of college, feeling like i never had the time to do my hobbies (always related to japanese culture) as free as when i was in highschool, and this dream was about that. i went to the same kindergarten, elementary school, middle school, and highschool. but highschool was the best years of my life, and a lot of things happened.

the red color represents my energy at those times. the comedy-tragedy mask represents all the emotions i've felt. the fox mask is because i really like it, and it may represents that sometimes i need to hide my real emotions. i felt protection there, presented by the red japanese temple above the fan. doing my hobbies keeps me cool and happy, and made my life more beautiful (the japanese fans). but the time has come for me to move on (the giant clock), and i must move forward to college life (the gravity being rotated, i had to let go from the red building). i actually wanted it, but as time passes i find it boring (i floated down willingly, but there was nothing on the grey buildings). and when i look behind, i feel that a lot has happened in those highschool years (i look up, and that's when i noticed the japanese ornaments.)

I think it's appropriate I post it because the title of the album is "Lucid Vibrations" and almost all the songs have to do with dreams. One of the songs is even called "Dreams" another being "Your Lucid Dream." So yeah, support your local dreamer.

I heard one too, from that other thread. It's all permissible here if it's lucid dream based.

Visual art is one thing and music is another. Although perhaps not intended for the original purpose of this thread, I say break the rules.

Art is art. The OP (<-- my new word I learned) just said, 'Dream Art'. Not visual or audio. It didn't specify.

It could be heard or ignored and that is up to other people. But it's not out of place. And you aren't selling anything so it's all good.

Cool, thank you very much. I assumed that might be the case but I didn't want to seem like I was trying to sell something. I just think the music really does go hand in hand with dreaming.

The web gallery has just been updated... 8-) http://www.world-of-lucid-dreaming.com/dream-art-gallery.html

And yes - music is art! I'm happy to publish all forms of your dream-inspired art as long as it can be demonstrated digitally.

My name is Gustavo Vieira.

So, if music is allowed, i'm posting here some of my music. This is a complete set of songs that i composed and performed in 2002 that was inspired by some of the themes we all discuss about: dreams, OBE, the soul, life after death, etc. Some of it i composed after reading books about life after death, some from the meaning of dreams books and others were inspired by the feelings i had when dreaming. I gave this set the name "Celestial mysteries".

Hi! I'm doing my graphic design thesis project on dreams and how to use lucid dreams creatively. I'm designing a website and guide on how to lucid dream and would love to incorporate different dreams in my project. If you could spread the word about my project or submit dreams and art that would be great. I would love to have great content and stories to feature on my site. I also have many questions to ask and your advice would be helpful. Thanks! Here is my in progress blog (www.dreamspired.tumblr.com/)

(2) Your real name - Dylan Howard (3) Your portfolio URL - http://fineartamerica.com/featured/the-struggle-of-two-dreamers-dylan-howard.html (4) A description of the dream (optional) - also for the gallery to add further meaning.

The Dreamers so in love began the creation of there own world, a world so vast that 10 stars could fit in side. In fact ten stars orbited the world, they called it Crystalia. The final resting place of the great crystal the heart and engine of the universe the god dreamers were its avatars. The crystal was placed in a great shrine a citadel that climbed miles into the worlds sky. Countless towers arches soared all made of pure crystal. It was so vast in human terms it would have covered the surfaces of 50 stars. It was beautiful just like the dreamers themselves. Here within there great fortress they ruled on a crystal throne together overseeing vast empty halls of beauty and tranquillity, where millions of beings could enter abroad. Vast skylights shafted beams of light of unending star light from each of the ten suns making there world shadowless, deprived of darkness. Half of Crystalia was filled by the crystal city, and the other side was lush with oceans and forest. It teamed of the life of there subconscious and their dreams.

Many galactic eons later the Dark Nemesis unleashed Darkness and Sin into the universe bringing freedom to the single minded followers of the god dreamers thus creating the first civil war of ideas, and the birth of free will. Led by the rebellion leader apprentice to the dark nemesis tasked to invade Cristalia and shatter the mighty true pure crystal thus to bring balance to the universe of light and dark.

kindergarten-dream.jpg One thing i notice about my dreams in my childhood is: they're colorful. the hue, saturation, exposure; the color was different. no matter if the dream supposed to be scary-themed (this one is), most of them were still much more colorful than the dreams i had after elementary school.

Oh my gosh. I was just scrolling through this random dream art and then I saw your drawing and it instantly hit me" I recognize that place I've been there before. In fact , I met one of my most intriguing dream characters there, and Indian man who taught me many of things about lucid dreams/ dreams in general. Even that little girl that whose legs were in the water but had no body above a water , that was in the dream to and my perspective was exactly the perspective in the drawing! Coincidence? I think not!

Thank you VERY much Rebecca for taking my music seriously and adding it to the gallery. I notice all the time extra views on the album which were linked from that site so thank you again. :) Also, hello everybody I am sorry I haven't posted in awhile but please know I am still VERY interested in lucid dreaming and have been getting better and better at it! I won't derail the topic too much here but I would like to drop a line to my friends Hagart and Summerlander. Peace!

Oh I definitely am... I feel so fortunate to be where I am at currently in my experience. I can't do anything too profound yet but the control and vividness I am attaining is heart warming to say the least.

So this is a drawing I started months ago, actually as good as finished but I just had to add details to be honest I was too lazy back then so yesterday I decided to finally do it.

The Story

I was having a dream months ago maybe more than a half year (propably) and I was having a regular dream in the beginning. But soon strange things appeared (as always), you see the obelisk like object on the right side of the drawing, it was a chromic obelisk with ducks imprisoned in it and they try to escape (you see their duck faces and no not the ones girls make on selfies). This propably reflects my fear on animal abuse also this obelisk was situated in an industrial/factory that was kind of abandonned yet very polluting maybe you can compary it with chernobyl if you interpret the duckface obelisk as a sort of misformed creature.

But as the dream was a mix of different thoughts fears and experiences I go through in my life there was this friend, I don't really like him so much but I always thought he threw his life away being on the computer 24/7 and never goes outside except for school. What disturbs me is that he kinda used to brag about how well he's educated and how he never drinks alcohol and stuff and how he has a better education as me, of course I was kind of angry because being 24/7 behind the screens is not really better than drinking. Also you don't create life experience never doing something "bad" and crazy and going out and stuff. It also has consequences not knowing how the actual outside life is what bothered me is that he thinks to know everything yet he only games.

So I wanted to you to know this information so I can tell my dream and how it is related to him. In this ugly industrial place I saw him and just thought "dude, I'm going to let you out of here taste the real life" and we immediatel teleported outside on the street. Like on the left side of the picture you see weird cubes a psychedelic bus stop etc. He immediately left I don't know what happened but the as of the teleportation the dream immediately changed into a lucid dream so actually "I teleported from a regular dream to a lucid dream". I tried to take a walk in my lucid dream but after a few seconds I already woke up that's why you see that cloud at the end. The cloud represents the door from dream world to actual world it sucked me up with a big white flash and I woke up as soon as it was done.

Now just a note I don't really care so much about that guy in real life, there are plenty of people who just throw their lifes away or that have actual awful lives I'm pretty sure he'll be fine and I don't care also because well he's a "friends" but just not really. So actually the dream decided I cared so much.

I already posted this story but less detailed and 2 days ago I posted a similar experience I had a similar dream 2 days ago where I actually went from a lucid dream to a regular dream you can read it it's in the same forum if you're interested.

Thanks for reading (to those who did)

Have a nice day further ;)

I was on a ship with pirates. They kidnapped me and made me work on board. When we were sailing on the seas, someone started to scream "lion mermaids" when the horns shown up from the water as this creatures surrounded the ship. They were like sharks and so strong they pulled big wood chunks out from the side of the ship. It was so scarry and everybody jumped in the water tried to swim away but ended in a violent death as the creatures got them. All that I could remember is the screams, horns and long tails below waterlevel and the uncomfortable feeling that I'm not on solid earth. Just before I touched water, I awoke....

My name is Santo Antony K title is - House of Wisdom

This scenery was from a random dream. actually that dream have no continuation. it was like bits of random events. its about a mother and her little daughter. most of them doesnt made any sense at all. the only thing i remember is this scene. i was showing this little house and a well to this child, the small house is built on huge boulder the structure is stable but to get there, need to climb up on an very unstable and all most impossible structure made out of wood log. this is the exact representation of that dream scene. the time is sunset, and the looks of it, some one is living on that house. and also, a well on boulder???? thats kind of extra weird.

from the look of it , i came up with this title.

"House of Wisdom."

I am Alexis HELLSTAHL, from France Image

This dream became lucid when my two friends asked me to find the Great Pyramids. I decided to fly high in the sky, and I saw before me a gigantic forest, spreading as far as the horizon. The trees were beautiful, all red and pink. I was flying with bliss under the deep blue sky with ravens (because I have raven nesting next to my bed and I hear them in the morning), and I found the Great Pyramids.

I have a question. Does this dream art include all artforms, or just pictures? I sometimes get music r other things in dreams, but obviously, I don't draw pictures... LOL.
