Anyone use Galantamine?
I have been reading about Galantamine on the net. I have just started the book Rebecca recommends, Advanced Lucid Dreaming (The Power Of Supplements). I would love to read some first hand accounts. Have you tried Galantamine? If so did it have any positive or negative effects on your lucid dreaming? Were their any side effects you encountered?
Thanks
I have tried it, but not had a LD with it yet.. I read that book too, and experimented along the lines that Thomas Yuschak recommends. So far I have tried different dose amounts and different combos and timings, and each time I have been so wired after taking it I could not get back to sleep to even note an effect, felt extremely tired for the next day or two and then seemed to get the REM rebound effect and lots of dreaming for one night before feeling normal again. I'm a little disappointed because of all the great success stories I've read about on other forums, but I guess my body chemistry is just not right for it. I have similar effects from taking a high dose of Choline Bitartrate. Not ideal to say the least.
I haven't experimented with it. I may try these experiments in the future, but for now I'm happy with the results I get just from LD techniques.
Gen, so the stuff made you wired, as in energetic? Hmm. Might be good for sports!
Hi Jonathan, I mean wired, as in, over stimulated mentally, making it impossible to relax the mind.. Much like insomnia. Not so much physically, that I recall.
I'm all for experimenting, hell, I've personally tried lots of different supplements over the years, but for me, none so far can compare to good old fashioned diligence and persistence.

Thanks for your reply. What is the minimum dosage if any of Galantamine can you take without these side effects?
I am on my second reading of the book and it is interesting. I have tried 5-HTP using 2 x 60mg tablets. Used this about 3 times and found that it does relax me if I allow myself to get into a receptive state (lose feeling, lose emotion, lose thought) and drift off into a nice pleasant sleep. On both times after waking and going back to sleep I have had very vivd dreams and one fully lucid dream.
I have used Choline twice and had a very interesting experiance a little out of normal ranges that I might post soon and on the second trial no result at all. The second time I went to sleep afte taking the tablet and that might have wrecked the trial as I think a WILD is the effect that I was trying to acheive.

The capsules I have are 4mg Galantamine and 200mg Choline. From dreamamins.com I have tried half a capsule, so roughly 2mg (and 100mgCholine), but that is the smallest dosage I have tried.
Peter, I've had great sleep and good REM rebound with 5htp. Did you take the 5htp before sleep, and do you remember how long you slept for before trying WBTB?
Yes I took 5-HTP before sleep and around 9:30pm, woke up around midnight, drifted off and woke up at 1:30am and got up for around 30 minutes. Precise with this as it is a normal night as I get up to check stock markets around 1:30 am most days of the week. The getting up and waking up I think is the key as after a little time looking at screens I fully wake up and take around an hour to get back to sleep and this seems to get results. So the rem rebound comes after a sleep of 3 to 4 hours, waking up and a little time to drift off again. I can quite ofter have a WILD and have strong interesting hypnagogic imagery if I hold the objective state and just pop into a dream.
I have used galantamine about a total of 10 times now. The first time I was on an antipsychotic at the time and had a very bad reaction, I basically had a swollen lip and exploding head syndrome, my heart was racing crazy fast and I felt like I was tripping balls. Then I worked up the courage to try it again when i went off the med in about 2 months from that time. The first couple times I couldn't fall asleep, but if you get experienced with meditation, the effects are def noticable. One time I work up after sleeping for 3 hours, took the pill and meditated for 30 minutes. Then I laid in bed and concentrated on my breathing and maintaining a waking sleeping state. Then all of a sudden it felt like I was faling through my bed and all these loud screeching sounds and vibrations started happening. My vision was super messed up and blurry. It was so scary and I felt paralyzed. I tried to remain calm because I have read about this many times, these vibrations. The vibrations continued, and they stopped and* 'I got out of my bed'* and continued with the weirdest dream in my life. The more I work on this technique, the more often I have WILD upon taking galantamine. Almost every night after I take galantamine, when it is still in my system, I have the most intricate long beautiful lucid dreams.
This stuff works BUT MUST BE PAIRED WITH MINDFULNESS PRACTICES.
This drug is only effective when you abstain from alchohol and other drugs that cloud your mind. Get well, sleep well, dream well. The food you eat, the negative things you do, the drugs you consume, all that involves your waking life HAS A DIRECT EFFECT ON THE QUALITY OF YOUR DREAMS.
Please respect this stuff, and keep in mind, it will have some psychological effects. It WILL change your life forever. There is NO going back from these experiences. I wouldn't go back for anything though :)
BASICALLY... Galantamine = best thing I have ever stumbled upon.
I mean wired, as in, over stimulated mentally, making it impossible to relax the mind.. Much like insomnia.
The same thing happened to me, if I take Galantamine I can not sleep anymore.. Make me full alert. Gen are you light sleeper or heavy sleeper ???
all the best --Andre
I did get some Galantamine from the dreamamins website and can honestly say that after the first or second try I actually DID have a (what seemed like) a Lucid dream and "sort of" a out of body experience.I dreamnt I was in my usual bedroom and could float up into the ceiling at will,by using my intention and thoughts. Then, every time I took the Galantamine again, nothing ever happened. I was disappointed and wouldn't bother ordering any more.
I have experimemted using Galantamine once more, purchased from the Dreamamins website and some success.I did two capsules(upped the dose from just one to two) and was lucid during a dream but only briefly. The next day I felt tired,my head felt weary, fuzzy and I seemed kind of dizzy and disorientated. Also,my left ear felt stuffed up.I had to go home and take a nap for about 4-5 hours just to get back to 'normal'. I have not done any more ever since and now don't want to.
I got it off of ebay. The first night I took it I had one lucid dream after another. However they weren't very vivid, more like watching grainy video. I took it almost every night after that and didn't get anything other than insomnia. However I decided that I might have become tolerant to it so recently I have stopped taking it in the week and just use it on the weekend and it has started working again. Although I still find that if I use it on two days in a row I will only get vivid dreams on the second day and no lucidity. I have also found that taking it with valerian makes the dreams more vivid and counter acts the insomnia.
The guy from the Dreamamins website recommends taking the Galantamine supplement once every three days. Not sure why.
I have used it on and off for a few years. I get mine from SmartPowders.com, and it's the 8mg capsule. I take it with a tablet of choline bitartrate, and sometimes add a little broken off crumb of yohimbe tablet to that lucid dream cocktail. Most of the times I take it, I have outstanding dreams- often flying dreams and amazing journeys that blow my mind. Yes, often they are lucid dreams, and some of these are out of body or astral travel. Often times when I take Galantamine, when the vibrations come along, and I reach the threshold of entering the lucid dream or second body state, I hear voices and even wind chimes in the background. It's like a door into another world opens. I strongly recommend prayer and meditation before trying to experience these things. Wrap yourself in white light and make sure you have first raised your vibrations. You don't want to end up in the lower astral plane or in a nightmarish situation. Anyways, that's my experience and advice with galantamine. It truly is a wonderful supplement, not to mention a miracle cure for Alzheimer's and dementia.
I use G about once every week or two and get great results. Intense lucid dreams that last a long time. I dont pray or anything like that at all just take it and get lost in my dreams. I agree that there are some very intense sensations but to me they are no more that the body doing what it does and we are more tuned into them. I would not reccomend using G if you are not experianced as it can be a little intense and could put you off
it seems that for most of u that if u went with the old skool method doing her tips without any supplements u would get the best results and save some money and yall should be careful with losing to much sleep because sleep its very very important and u should keep a good nights rest at number one on the priority list
I get the same sort of experiences as you do, very long and clear lucids. I also use every 2 or 3 weeks only as they make me tired the next day.
Have there been any proven bad side effects of galantamine? was thinking about trying it sometime..
Not that I am aware of but you will need to do your own homework. Galantamine is used in the treatment of parkinsons disease and with doses of up to 24 mg per day so the 8 mg dose that I used every couple of weeks is very small compared to that.
Hey all, this is my first time to the site and my first post to the boards.
I've used it combined with choline one time and I must say that I did have a good result!
I followed Yuschak's steps closely, and after a few hours of sleep, I took the supplements and tried to stay up for a while before going back to bed. When I went back to bed, the sun was already coming up (I may have stayed up too late the previous night).
The combination did not make me wired at all, in fact it made me quite groggy and drowsy, similar to the feeling of trying to force yourself awake while on melatonin. I had no trouble going to sleep, and shortly after I experienced waking sleep paralysis (which often happens to me) but THIS time, I was able to fly out of my body! I rushed towards and jumped out of my bedroom window and floated down three stories to the ground. The vividness was not ideal, it was a bit hazy and control of my actions was awkward and difficult, but the feeling of being free and flying really affected me deeply. Because it was daytime, I did not experience any fear and things were bright and familiar (although at times fuzzy).
I took piracetam upon awakening to counter desensitization, but I admit that I still felt very sleepy and groggy for the rest of the day. Not a good feeling at all. That is why I didn't experiment again for a while and my bottle of galantamine quickly went past its expiration date. I have since ordered another bottle and I'm awaiting it's arrival so that I can get back to experimenting. Although, I'm not going to do it when I have to work the next day, due to the drowsiness.
I use galantamine frequently. If you follow Thomas Yushack instructions you shouldn't have any adverse effects. This is a natural supplement that when it is taken at the right doses and at the right time it can do wonders for your LD's.
