According to a small study by Thomas Yuschak, an amino acid blend consisting of 2000mg L-aspartic acid, 4000mg L-glutamine and 300mg L-theanine is arguably very effective at inducing lucid dreaming (taken at WBTB).

Anyone who has tried this?

Are there any side effects? The Galantamine can cause insomnia, and you can build immunity. Does the protein have any cons?

Amino acids should not have any side effects. You can't even feel that you've taken them, like you'll do when you take galantamine. In fact L-glutamine especially has many positive "side effects", like increasing HGH (human growth hormone). But if this works in aiding lucidity is another question..

Sorry, a sample size of one is a joke. He might as well say: "every time I (and only I) ride a roller coaster I barf, therefore riding a roller coaster is 100% guaranteed to cause vomiting!"

I need more data before I start popping the pill version of protein shakes. Unless MORE hair and a second puberty are what I'm after...

No this shouldn't have any bad side affects as far as I'm aware.

The thing thou with this is that it does say its effective when used with ** WBTB** .. so this may not at all help without WBTB (that's if it helps anyone seeing it was small study). So this doesn't sound good for anyone who has issues with insomnia.

I'm sensing the punchline that NOTHING is a good idea with insomnia. Including, I've learned, NOT wanting insomnia.

Amino acids are a fascinating subject, something I am constantly reminding myself I need to study more. I wish I had something salient to post here, but I'm afraid my knowledge to date is fragmented leads to no conclusions. Ah well, as was said thousands of years ago, "the road to excellence is paved w sweat".

Yeah, around 500 amino acids have been identified so far. 22 standard amino acids have been identified as far as the human body is concerned. Regarding lucid dreaming, glycine looks interesting to me. Going to add it to my stack a few times & see what it does for me.

Glycine showed up on my doorstep 2day. Will have something to say about experience within 2 wks. Been researching it as well. Interesting stuff concerning its effectiveness vis a vis stage 3 & 4 sleep stages. Pub Med link: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22293292

Back at ya, Limeth. :) Ordered some TriMethylGlycine too. I remember taking it during my nootropic hayday maybe 15 or so yrs ago. Good for the liver & after the 2 methyl groups drop off u get glycine.

Here's a link to an article: http://www.drlwilson.com/ARTICLES/TRIMTHYLGLYCINE.htm

Curiously to me, he calls it a relatively yang supplement, yet says it supports the parasympathetic nervous system. That doesn't exactly square w what I was taught w TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) but to each his own. I was also taught a lot of people are yin deficient. He goes on about Yin disease, implying a surplus, which is a new one to me. Only see an MD after his name, implying he has no formal training in TCM. Quite understandable as getting an acupuncture license is up to 4 yrs full time, & once u have an MD, your scope of practice is so big, so what's the point? Lots of other articles on TMG on the internet, in case u want to go info hunting. BTW, as far as taste, both glycine & TMG are sweet.
