Deep Static Thought
Sorry in advance if this is the wrong area.
It's been a long while since I've done lucid dreaming. One of the things I remember about it is that whenever I would try deeper or more complex thought, I'd wake up. Like as soon as I'd reach a high enough level of mental activity my body would tell me "wake up now".
Yada yada ydaya getting past the intial "oh I'm dreaming" was the hard part but then it was smooth sailing. That's not why I'm here.
The thing that happend most recently, and during a regular dream, is that I was put in a posistion where I had to do complex thought. The kind of thought that would normaly wake me up in a regular lucid dream circumstance.
I was in a classroom (haven't been in one in years, and I don't need interpritationon on it) and had to do one of those basic math warm up sheets your teacher would somtimes give you at the start of class. The kind of "to get your head in the right think space" kinda thing. I'd start to do it but instantly get distracted. Now after about 4 distractions I just buckled down and tried to do it- complete consentration.
Now here's the thing- All my thoughts were static. That's the only way I can describe it. Whenever I tried to give anything any serious thought of any kind all I'd get in return from my brain was this weird static. Like I was drawing blanks on the spot of my head where I know was the ability to do math.
I went home. I got some of the medical green stuffs (please don't ban. Not a drug. Oficially regonized for medical use) my friend had (BTW have NEVER used it in my entire life) since part of what it does chemically is, more or less, shut down large parts of your external information intake and thus makes you focus on internal thought.
The static felt so wrong and untamed that I didn't feel like I had an option but to try it. So I did, and after awhile of it I still got the static thought. Still.
Then I woke up.
Note to self- conventional medical aplications don't work in dreams.
Do any of you know about that static? What is it?
If you want to incubate lucid dreams, concentrating on complex thoughts tends to involve rather advanced dreaming practice.
Instead, you could suggest to your unconscious mind that you want to have lucid dreams involving athletic activities occurring in varied landscapes, while learning new skills by interacting with human or animal dream characters.

Should've underlined the last bit.

That's ^ why I'm here.

I've never really been able to do physically demanding activities in dreams. At least nothing more complex then the thought. It's only area manipulation that I'm able to do well or really at all. That or changing what other people I don't know do to some extant.
jasmine2 wrote: ...interacting with human or animal dream characters.
Never ever liked the idea of interacting with dream characters, only throwing things at them to see how they react. The thought of controlling them felt wrong/pointless. What's the point in controlling them if you know what the outcome will be? I could never bring myself to do it.
Had to stop trying to lucid dream anyways. Had to stop the habits you pick up to make it easier to dream like that to. It was ruining my mental health and made sleeping hell. Not a nightmare, just hell. Took almost two years to recover.
Edit You know that static felt a lot like all the weird stuff that I had while trying to recover.

Nods to that. That is why I dont often recommend some of the techiques commonly mentioned here, eg waking up in middle of night can lead to sleep problems in some people.
and of cause using drugs for LD can lead to trouble.
There is thou other ways to do LD without leading to broken sleep eg doing a WILD during a short nap during day. ............
Your question about the static. As it was just a normal dream, its probably just symbolism for something else eg it could be representing that you are struggling to get clear thoughts of things eg trouble getting clarity in life.

Never opted to do any of that. Like you say, causes other bad things to happen. Went with techniques that were more passive. Things like looking at my hand randomly to check its shape (why is your hand always backwards in dreams? XD), trying to hold a thought as long as possible while going to sleep, ect.
It's just, as you know, sleeping is your brains form of defragging. To make it so you never defrag at the expense of personal pleasure kinda makes day to day thought really sketchy.
Right after I stopped, how intense that defrag was hurt. Would have these headache type things where my regular thought train was replaced by dream logic at random times of the day. I dreaded going to sleep for the longest time.

It sounds like we may of had a similar kind of experience.
I got to the point many years ago with my lucid dreaming in which I was aware all night, every night... and I ended up not liking it as my brain wasnt getting a rest (any real sleep one could say) at all. I had to unlearn LD (for a time I thought I'd never be able to really do a true sleep again) .. and had to learn to sleep unawarely again as it had become natural just to be in a LD state when body asleep.
And yeah I had more dream stuff come in during the day as my brain was trying to defrag as you put it.

Get static dreams to while trying to recover? They aren't exactly like the flicker dreams (don't know the professional name, but the ones where you see a bunch of stills getting played through very fast), that doesn't do them justice. They're much faster (so fast you can't tell what the pics are), extremely unfocused, and there's a lot of picture blanks and static mixed in with the little bit of what you can even make out.
A little bit off topic this next bit.
Have you ever gotten a few days off of life's responsibilities and played one video game non stop for those days off?
Similar to the dream logic during day, I've gotten "game logic" (if you will) before that's popped up in the same way as it.
Is thirsty just haveta run back to the main hub and hit up the pub master..... stops and realizes I'm standing in the kitchen I'm an idiot.
Like your game go-to reflexes have flooded your heads cache so much that even your regular day tasks start to draw on it as well. It' really hard to make happen (only has happened with 3 games for me) but is very similar in effect to the aforementioned dream thought.
No I havent had that static.. when I get all night awareness.. I go into a very still observation of dreams all night state. Like I can be both in the dream and outside of it too but I still didnt think it was a healthy state to be in. My brain NEEDS breaks.
There is a kind of fuzz, static thing I get thou in meditation states. I can see the static (like little lights everywhere) and hear it (a bit like a TV station not on channel) but it dont really affect my brain badly.
Get this-
Months later I have to special doctor for some weird health issues I'd been having. Guess what. Guess what?
Turns out I had a form of ADD. That static, that horrible incomprehensible static, was ADD.
After having posted here (please refrain from a grave digging ban...), and having had dreams much like that, it had gotten worse. I mean it started to spread to waking life to. What I was doing in life at the time didn't really require deep thought so the static never came up on a regular basis- but looking back on it my vocabulary got smaller, I'd constantly forget things, and it became it impossible to expand what I already knew. Actually leading up to going to the docs I'm not even sure how I functioned at all.
Docs said that they way I had/have it could be reversed if I took these tablets religiously (we're very reluctant to hand out adderall for obvious abuse/safety purposes unless they had to).
Anyways I just think it's really cool how my subconscious kinda knew about it way before I had. Thought if anything, just for that alone, it'd be worth sharing this update. Sorry for grave digging. Just thought it was really cool and couldn't help myself.

It sounds a little strange to me that ADD would suddenly start affecting someone in those ways if it never did so before. I always thought if a person has ADD that they probably would of always had it and they don't just suddenly start developing symptoms. Maybe you should see someone who specialises in it to make sure this is what is causing those symptoms and make it clear you didn't have them before.
Rapid fast or jumping thoughts can be caused by ADD.

That's pretty much exactly what I said to. They told me that's a common misconception and that there are actually 4 different kinds of ADD. Mentioned that some of those are like that, but the parts of your body that manage brain health can get sick/break and then you get a version of it that way to. The one I got is the least serious. Hence part of the reason for not giving me adderall unless the other stuff doesn't work first.
The doctor I went to specializes in, well, best way to put it is that they know all disorders/diseases known to man- both physical and mental (had to go to school for both 0_0). Had been having serious digestion problem and was there for that. Turned out I wasn't digesting carbs so they'd just sit there and rot making gas .-.
The reason I all of sudden started loosing speech was because that's pretty much the last thing to get affected. I apparently had been having problems for a year or more for it to have gone as far as it did. Makes sense looking back because all the complicated games I love, like Morrowind, started becoming really hard/impossible to play about then to.

I guess you saw a psychriatrist as they train for both, its quite a lot of training. This though doesn't at all mean they know all the disorders/diseases known to man :) (though many psychriatrists like to look like GOD  ).
There is a heck of a lot of diseases etc and many areas in which they aren't familiar in when it comes to more uncommon things which one needs specialists in other fields for.
In my own experience 3 psychriastrists who didn't specialise in Aspergers actually missed my Aspergers and I ended up having to see ones who specialised in Autism and Aspergers for a diagnoses.
I also got wrongly diagnosed by a psychriastrist with a personality disorder I didn't even have which was caused by my carb isssues. It was an allergist who is a leader in the field of insulin issues (hyperinsulinemia.. He's published studies in this) who finally properly diagnosed me and worked out the cause of the mood disorder I had which is now controlled completely by diet (I'm on an extremely low carb diet). So obviously even with the 11? years of study they do, they still miss and don't know a lot.
Your carb issue you have.. I'm interested what its called (and as I said I have severe carb issues myself, I get extremely affected by them.. but in my case its been diagnosed as being severe hyperinsulinema as that is what shows up on my 2hr glucose tolerance tests with the insulin levels included). Hyperinsulinemia causes bloating and gas is one of the common signs of it. Note my specialist re my carb issue, he calls it the "pandora's box of illnesses" as it can cause so many different symptoms and some people have serious issues due to it. If you are very interested and think it may be helpful to you I can try to find his website online which gives info on this.
I suggest to go to a big ADD website and ask if anyone there at all has the symptom your doctor said was due to ADD. If the answer is no, that should tell you something (make sure its a big site).

NO idea what to call it .-. They're a certified BSN, DO, and ND if that helps. Don't know what the DO is in but I'd assume it's relative. Some of the other people they work with also have MD's among other varying certs. They're not one of those "GOD" doctors though. They wouldn't be ashamed to recommend me to someone else they know that's better suited then they are in a particular area.

No idea what it was called. Tested me for Raynaud's disease since one of my relatives has it. Came back negative luckily. Said I wasn't digesting food right- in particular crabs. Said it wasn't the first time they has seen it either and proceeded to hand me some capsules. Took them for 4 months whenever I ate anything, went back, and they said I didn't have to take them anymore. Now I can eat without bloating up for 4 hours, getting a really bad stomach ache, and then barfing it all back up- was not fun.
However, when I went back they diagnosed me with reactive hypoglycemia. So I'm on a diet for that. Feel a WHOLE lot better from that. Don't feel like falling over several times mid day, get jitters, lightheaded, ect anymore....well I do but it's when I forget to eat and stabilize my blood sugar :P
I **would ** go to another doctor for further tests, except everything they've had me do as a treatment has made me feel multiple times better then I had before. So I mean it's not like with you where they'd simply ignore the issues or give you stuff that didn't work.

thanks for sharing.. fascinating, I'm really wondering what the pills they gave you were which you took for four months. I cant think of what that would of been.
I was getting hypoglycaemia too, extremely abnormally low on 3 of my blood tests. It was probably in my case from the hyperinsulinemia (prediabetes.. insulin spikes too high in attempts to control carbs and that can cause a suddenly glucose ditching.. so hypoglycaemia). I got put on a very strict low carb diet which helped with my symptoms but my issues with the insulin and the glucose, it hasn't helped so Im now basically diabetic (I haven't been back to specialist but my blood sugar now swung other way so now in diabetic ranges on the glucose monitor).
