Problem With Sleeping
I recently experienced something that made me take my interest in lucid dreams more seriously again, and am now more determined than ever to start having them. But for some reason, despite the fact that I'm a pretty heavy sleeper, I've now been waking up constantly in the middle of the night and I can't remember my dreams. Any way to stop this?
How many hours of sleep do you have before you get in this state of awakening? I suppose it's the other way around. It's when you actually rise up from a state of REM/dream sleep that you are more likely to remember the dream rather than losing it when you go back to a deep state of sleeping. Reason being is that you woke up in the middle of the 'action'. This is generally true, but you might have a special case somehow. Also, do you remember your dreams when you wake up at the morning? And do you actually record them?
Depending on how often I wake up it varies from about two to three hours. Ex. I went to bed at 11, woke up at 1:38, then later sometime after 3, then finally at 5 something or other. I tried going to bed earlier to fix this (ten o' clock) and I still woke up at some time after one. I usually remember my dreams, and I've been recording them for around five years (with constant hope for a lucid dream but no real effort after year one).
Seeing you have sleep issues, I suggest for you to get yourself some "slow release" melatonin which may not only help you stay asleep but also helps some to have more vivid dreams so may help some to LD.
This is off topic, but how do you make your avitar picture animate? Or do you have to choose from a selection that has already been programmed to do so. I would love to make my own but just don't know how.
I HATE going off topic so I will give my two sense now about the real issue at hand: I have had those type of sleepless nights myself. I normally have great dream recall, but some nights I wake up constantly and don't remember a thing. Technically I wasn't actually dreaming, I was waking up so often I didn't give myself a chance. I don't know the exact reason and it was just a phase and it comes and goes. I don't know if that helps at all, other that just saying Ive been there too and it doesn't last forever.
Glad to know it's not necessarily going to last forever, because it happened again last night. This time I attempted a Sense Initiated Lucid Dream as soon as I realized I was awake, but then ended up doing so for around 30 minutes without being able to fall asleep for some reason. Despite losing feeling in my extremities I remained annoyingly awake. However, this particular time could have been because of Daylight Saving Time, so perhaps it was just a fluke.
I'll look into the Melatonin, thanks for the advice. :)
Animated avatars need to be in gif format. If you have an animation in gif format, or can find one on the internet, you can use it as an avatar so long as it fits the size restrictions. This particular one is a fake Pokemon I made a few years ago which someone made a sprite of for me.
Still having sleeping problems; I keep waking up in the middle of the night with no dream recollection. Does anyone else have this problem?
To be honest, I've been having those for a week now. It's frustrating. I wake up at night regularly, not as much as your situation though, but I still remember nothing. It's funny that I gave you an advice in the first place, and now I'm suffering from the same thing.
This is natural and permanent habit, i know some of my friends have same problem but i think you cannot solve it.

yes, u can solve it by give away LD thoughts for some days. works for me. i think it happens wen somebody thinking about LD so hard. its just like doing hard and losing it. for LD u need a to relax and try on medium level. i lost my dreams for a week now. tiny bits of fragment dream all i got from now. dont need to frustrated it will surely come back.
Hmm, so stop trying so hard? Why would that be causing me to wake up though?

r u using WBTB?, if u r using it, stop it for some days. if u r keeping a dream journal, stop it too for a while.
if u r trying hard, then that stress making u to wake up coz u know that waking up from a dream make an excellent dream recall ratio. am just guzzing with my opinion. but u didnt mention about ur LD method.
Currently, I have been attempting MILD, with SILD and FILD (still unused thus far but I plan to use it) when I wake up. WBTB wakes my family up as well so I cannot use that. Stop keeping a dream journal? Are you sure?
for a little time YES, get a vacation for two weeks from LD. dont do anything associated to LD. dont do any MILD,WILD,DILD, (watever it is).method. it works trust me. i think u r thinking about it too much. but remember this if u took vacation from LD, its easy to become lazy on this subject. so dont take long vacation just 2 weeks. trust me on this. its not that hard. am not saying to get out from this site, check it daily for just half or one hour. thats it. after this short vacation u r ready to go again.....gud luck. inform us if ur getting any changes. and COOL avatar.. :D
Have you ever been able to remember your dreams? If not.. taking a break from this probably wont help at all.
If you do remember your dreams at times but other times dont... taking a short break may be the answer as it isnt uncommon to go throu periods of poor dream recall and you may just be currently going throu one of those.
or instead of a break you could try switching techniques eg try WILD during the day if you think you could get yourself into some kind of nap state.

Okay, so before two weeks, I was able to remember 3 vivid dream a night, but since then, my dream recall dropped to the level where I can only remember really short fragments, or sometimes, even nothing at all. Do you guys think that I should also take a break from LD, as R99 suggested?

After a bad run and downhill turn with things for a couple of weeks, what I think is that you may need to change what you are doing now "in some way", to change the pattern that you currently are in. How you do it to invoke a different situation.. is truely up to you and I or no one else can truely tell you what may be best for you. (everyone is different). If something isnt working..try something else.. that could be to take a short break.
Thank you. I think I might take a short break for now. I estimate that a week will be enough for me. One more question, do you know any good isochronic beats? Free ones would be the best choice, but I still don't mind any others with payments.

No i dont know as I havent ever used anything like that for dreaming...
Then you should try them. They're pretty good for meditation sessions, and going deeper with your mind. From my personal preference, they were really useful to me, and brought me to trance, relaxed states.

I do trance and relaxed states without them (I used to do trance channelling). Any one can learn these states if willing to put a lot of time in to practice, those things just make it easier for people to learn :D (Im not sure thou due to having no experience with them if they can create a reliance on those aids?? or do people after a while stop using them and start to naturally do these thing???). Can you get into the same states without them?

Yeah, I certainly do know that those can't absolutely guarantee trance states with just listening to them. You have to also practice willfully if you want good results, whether you use these tracks or not. I'm think they can help if one uses them at the beginning of learning how to relax and focus while meditating, but I'm not so sure about creating a state of total reliance that prevents you from meditating naturally in the future. For me, I can't meditate without using them, and that being due to the fact that my house and neighborhood is noisy, and I'm not sure how I can focus with all this background noise, and therefore, I need to put some isochronic or binaural beats that can help me focus.
