Can the people in my dreams think?

I've been putting a lot of thought lately into whether or not the people that I interact with in my dreams have complex thought patterns.

After suggesting this theory to friends, I heard the expected "of course not, they're just people that your brain makes up; they're not real". While I understand that this is true, I still believe that perhaps our brains have allotted each of these 'dream individuals' their own unique part of my own conscience, thus, in a sense, giving them life.

I began thinking about this possibility after a semi-lucid dream in which I realized that I was dreaming and then attempted to communicate so to someone around me. This dream person promptly denied my statement and attempted to reassure me that I was not dreaming. This interaction is evidence that my conscience was struggling to figure out whether or not I was dreaming, and this struggle played out in my dream.

However! Where do we draw the line for what is considered life/consciousness? The 'individual' that I interacted with in my dream wasn't myself, I experienced what I went through, I have memories of my thoughts and not others. The people around me in my dreams have an allotted consciousness different from that of my dream-self.

Could the human brain be powerful enough to endow a character with their own primitive form of sentience?

If anyone has any knowledge about in depth dream processes that might help verify/disprove this theory please share! I am very excited by this theory and I hope you all are too.

Well it is an interesting way to look at it ;)

Robert waggoner talks often of DC's who refused to accept all kinds of things. Robert waggoner gateway to innerself.

Maybe that could help you on your way.

If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it's usually a duck.

[9.12.2016] I had a WILD, in which my son appeared. In the dream, my wife said something to him (she was not on the scene). At that time I was intensively trying to communicate with dream figures, however almost no useful results. Mostly the comm. was rejected for example by turning face out or ignoring me, the people I tried to talk to were some generic buddies, not a real persons. But in this lucid dream, she responded! My goal was to talk to her and push her (or any other dream figure) to 'surrender' the conversation. What happened was something I did not expect at all. She was able to answer logically all my questions, and it was me (my lucid consciousness) who had to surrender (and wake up to make notes).

Also her character in my normal dreams seems to reflect her real behavior (at least how I see her), so I believe there is something bigger behind this.

In another DILD she was convincing me this is not a dream, but reality.

You can bet that something is going on.

The satisfaction of the explanation is up to your sensibilities. (what do you know, what are ya told. cold, mold, road, bold, old, fold, hold, gold, polled. Experience helps; but, it is not the end all be all of truth. Ruth, tooth, proof, roof, ruff ruff. Meanwhile back at the ranch. Your I.Q. has a lot to do with the proper proportion in the degree of the temperature of the device being used to read the relative level of the height in the face of reasonable prices at Walmart super center in Chicago, Ill of nois.

see box 14 of user manual. (note: manual may not reflect actual operation)
